Mechanical Plant Replacement

Princeton Engineering Services provided Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical Engineering Design Services at Comly Elementary School for the School District of Philadelphia. This school is one of many full-scale Mechanical Plant Replacements that PES has performed for the School District. The project consisted of replacing the existing heating plant consisting of (3) new 200BHP steam heating boilers, boiler feedwater unit, chemical and water treatment, underground fuel-oil storage tank and oil transfer pumps, steam to hot water heat exchanger, sump pumps, and new Automatic Temperature Controls. Electrical work was limited to providing power for all new equipment and new lighting for the Boiler Room, and adjacent Mechanical Spaces. The existing central fans were rehabilitated with new steam control valves, automatic controls, and new steam coils. The project also involved close coordination with gas, electric, telephone, and water companies to ensure proper sequencing of the work throughout construction.
